Success Stories: Marriage-based green card approved for military spouse from Canada

Photo by ManuelTheLensman on Unsplash. A marriage-based green card grants permanent residency to the spouse of a U.S. citizen or green card holder allowing them to live and work in the United States. Find out what documents are required to prove your bonafide marriage for a green card application.

We recently received an approval of lawful permanent residence (a green card) for our Canadian client through her U.S. citizen husband who is an active military service member residing in Mississippi. Congratulations to our clients!

The foreign spouse initially entered the United States on the Canadian tourist status. The couple subsequently married and applied for adjustment of status, the process to obtain permanent residency while the applicant is present in the United States. In this process, the applicant may apply for work authorization and advance parole to enable them to work in the United States and travel in and out of the country while their green card application is pending.

We had submitted evidence of a bona fide marriage at the time of filing and although the interview requirement was recently reinstated by this current administration, our application was approved without an interview and based on our well-documented submission!
